Last night we took an adventure into the Mojave desert and it was perfect for the Thompson’s family photo session! I really love all the different textures and layers the desert provides plus all those earthy color tones are really great for fall! Who needs fall foliage when you’ve got this beautiful backdrop! These are just a few sneak peeks to hold them over. I can’t wait to show them everything and design their holiday cards later this week. Happy Sunday everyone!!!!

Pedraza Family | Bakersfield Best Family Photographer Andrea Jordan
Tonight’s family session with the Pedraza family was everything I could have hoped it would be. We were originally supposed to take these portraits on their family property but due to some last minute changes Kayla asked me if we could go somewhere that looked like fall……YOU GOT IT! I was more then happy to take them to one of my favorite fall Bakersfield locations. This spot never disappoints me! It has the best golden light and colors. These are just a few sneak peeks……I can’t wait to share their entire gallery with them at their ordering appointment this coming week!!! Hopefully this is enough to hold them over until then. They were such an amazing family to work with!!!

Miss Makiya's minimal Cake Smash | Bakersfield 1st Birthday Photographer Andrea Jordan
When photographing little ones it is so easy to get caught up in all the ‘stuff’ the props the things we can add in to a photo for the set. The problem with that is the next thing you know the photo is now about all these things in it and not as much about the main star…..our precious one year old! I loved this minimal cake smash and how focused it was on Makiya, isn’t she beautiful!! For all my cake smash sessions I always use Cakes by Karen and she impresses me every time. Her cakes are so full of detail and taste amazing.
Wildflower Portraits - Photo Shoots in March & April Bakersfield, Ca
Flowers, Flowers Everywhere
Kern County’s wildflower fields are a perfect, colorful location to showcase your family. A wildflower photo session is great for everyone from high schoolers taking senior pictures, to newly engaged couples, expecting moms and every kind of family in-between. The lush, new fields are refreshing and their beautiful colors make every single photo pop. As a Bakersfield photographer, spring is one of my favorite times of year for photo shoots. Not only do I get to capture the beauty of spring, but everyone involved has fun frolicking through the fields and smelling the flowers. I’m so excited that the wildflowers have already bloomed this year! They make some of my very favorite child and family portraits.
A Wildflower Photo Shoot: Ready, Set...Go!
Being a wildflower fanatic, I can’t help but to swoon when I find the perfect shot during a spring family photo session, senior picture shoot, or couple/engagement pictures. To all of my potential and future clients may I just say, I think you’re perfect just the way you are. So first things first, you don’t have to bring ANYTHING - I’ll bring everything but your smile (although I know how to bring those out of just about everybody too). And second, my What to Wear Guide will be sent to you right after we book your portrait session. It’s picture heavy with lots of tips on how to piece together family outfits, complimentary couple’s clothes, and different looks for your photo shoot.
What’s Now & What’s Forever
If you can’t tell, I’m big on fun, unforgettable experiences captured at all the right moments. These are the kinds of memories you can cherish for a lifetime - and that’s what any portrait session should do. Rather than just being something you keep for a little while, my goal is to make this an experience you want to hold onto long after the photo shoot is over. Having photos that stand out from the crowd is always a special thing, especially for all of your social media posts, but having photos that are one of a kind because of what you did in them is priceless. Kids have fun running around, high school seniors get to strike a pose against a dramatic backdrop, and you get to be proud of your family - these are all beautiful moments that should be documented and held on to for life. Check out my product page for everything that will suit your wildflower photo session wonderfully and feel free to call or email with any questions or ideas.

Maternity Portraits for Mike & Mary
Getting to know this couple has been just the best new client experience. Mary is so sweet and humble with the cutest faint accent and Mike is just a down right make-you-pee-your-pants kind of hilarious. Mike is in the military so these two soon to be parents tend to move around a lot. During this season of their life they are living in the desert. It was important to Mary that we somehow show that in her maternity photos. I spent a couple days exploring around Kern County and beyond trying to find the perfect spot. Originally we were just going to head to an area with a grove of Joshua trees, but then I showed her photos of Red Rock Canyon State Park and it was kind of a no brainer thats where we had to have our baby bump photo shoot. At 33 weeks pregnant, Mary looks absolutely amazing! I had so much fun exploring within the canyons and creating some of the best maternity photos that I am so proud of. Enjoy!
